How do automatic PHP updates work?
- We'll update your site to the latest stable PHP version automatically.
- We test your site before and after applying the update to identify compatibility issues and to check if it causes changes on your site.
- If we detect any issues, we roll back the update to make sure your site stays functional.
- You'll get an email report about each successful and attempted update.

How to choose a different PHP version
Note: We recommend taking a backup of your website before you update your PHP version.
You can always change your PHP version manually, even if you have activated automatic PHP updates.
1. Log in to WP.one.
2. Click on the Sites tab at the top and select the site you want to update the PHP version for.
3. In the left-hand menu, click Settings.

How to make your site work with the new PHP version
If you manually update to a newer PHP version, your WordPress setup might not be compatible with it. To fix this, follow the steps above to revert your PHP version to the previous one, and your website should be functional again.
Note: Switching to an old PHP version is only a temporary solution, as the outdated version will eventually be removed from WP.one entirely, after which it is no longer possible to select it.
For a lasting solution, it's important to update the entire WordPress installation. WP.one offers automatic updates for the plugins and themes on your site, ensuring they stay up-to-date. However, if you're using premium themes or plugins and their license is invalid, they cannot be updated automatically. Additionally, any self-made themes or plugins won't be updated automatically and may not function properly with the new PHP version.
